Comfort Zone Boundaries

“Everything you want is just outside your comfort zone.” — Robert Allen

Whenever I inquire as to the reason why someone has yet to take action, the answer is almost always about the possible action making him/her uncomfortable.
We’ve all heard it said that in order to have something you’ve never had, you have to do something you’ve never done. Likewise, when our goals and projects take us outside our comfort zone, JUST DO IT! You will eventually expand your comfort zone boundaries to include the activity. Now it’s no big deal! Envision yourself doing and put yourself in the situation to do just that. Make the scary lizard brain relax. Eliminate the fear by making it clear that you won’t heal over and die at the sight of a crowd, controversy, challenge, or embarrassing mistake. Cross the bridge of “what-if” when it happens. Over thinking the endless list of possibilities is exhausting and unnecessary!

I’ll end with a quote off of Seth Godin’s blog. Read the whole post here.

Your audacious life goals are fabulous. We’re proud of you for having them. But it’s possible that those goals are designed to distract you from the thing that’s really frightening you–the shift in daily habits that would mean a re-invention of how you see yourself. -Seth Godin

Change your perspective. Leave the comfort zone…tread the path to greatness. You will be rewarded much more for the risk in the long run!
