Make this New Year All You Want it to Be!

Happy New Year!

A new year brings new beginnings, new hopes, and new possibilities! Even still people tend to get stirred at the beginning of the year and all the goals and resolutions fall by the wayside by MLK Jr Day. This does not have to happen to you! The way to make the most of the the year and accomplish your goals is to set up timelines and accountability partners to help push you along the way!

Timelines help give you the ability to zoom in and out of projects to more accurately predict how much time each aspect will take to finish. Some goals have multiple layers of accomplishments that can be broken down where you can clearly see what needs to happen and when to finish the end goal. For example, having the goal to run a 5K would require training as well as selecting and registering for a particular race. Registering for the race months in advance will add more inspiration to train. Simply saying you’d like to run a race without solidifying a specific time will put you in a time crunch that might end in revising the goal.

Accountability is the next piece to make sure you’ll get the results you want. Share your resolutions with people who will ask you about your progress and call you out when you breach your resolutions. If you set out to stay positive all year, an accountability partner will stop you in your tracks when you are tempted to complain and encourage you when you magnify the good in every situation.

This year, strive to be intentional. Nothing ever happens on accident. This isn’t because your life is ruled by fate, this is because you have the opportunity to make things happen for yourself. When you choose not to do anything intentionally, your life is then ruled by the intentionality of others.

Are you caught in the plans of others choosing to be intentional?

Will you be constantly reacting to circumstances rather than creating them on your own terms?

What you carry out this year is entirely based on your resolve to finish. Set the check points, enroll the support group of friends and fans, and make this year the best year yet!
