Perspective, Sharing Art

Busting Stress with Art

Have you ever been in the middle of multiple (somewhat stressful) decisions and projects and find yourself longing for simplicity?

Can we make it as simple as, What color would you like to color the car on your activity sheet?

My business partner sent me a message that simply said, “Keila, don’t you miss knowing when and where you would eat, sleep, and work each day?”

I sigh because, yes, college life was so easy. Just go to class, do your work, and show up for delicious meals. (My alma mater Wheaton College was rated #1 for the food every year I attended. So every meal was a treat!) Now, I eat if I find time to buy groceries, plan meals, and cook them! Working is a different beast nowhere near a class schedule and fixed homework on a syllabus.

But I’m preaching to the choir right? Life is complicated. That’s not a new revelation. What’s great is what I can do to counteract the stress of the everyday uncertainty and adventure.

Art. Creating and sharing art is the best way to take control and feel accomplished after a short amount of time.

So, I’ve decided to decorate a room. I will paint it and set it up as if it were mine because I’m craving an art project that I can see for days on end… not simply something small that can be tucked away and forgotten. Those tiny projects are great to hold you over, but every once in a while, you need a beast to tame to feel more powerful. ^_^
